Matched Stereo Set comprising thew CMC 1 pre-amp and MK 4 Cardioid capsules.
The MK 4 Cardioid is Schoeps' best-selling capsule. It offers the highest sound quality, flat frequency response, optimal rejection of rear-incident sound, and a directional pattern that remains constant throughout the audio frequency range. In the diffuse sound field it shows only a mild rise around 10 kHz; the sonic impression thus remains free of colouration even when sound is arriving from all sides at once. The sonic impression is thus free of colouration whether sound is arriving at the front or at the sides of the microphone, as well as for diffuse sound (reverberation) in a room.
The CMC 1 is Schoeps's new, small Colette microphone amplifier, about one-third the size and 40% lighter than the CMC 6.
It is compatible with all components of the Colette system and can be used in place of the CMC 6 without compro-mise, for all applications in which the size and weight of the microphone play a role.
At SCHOEPS, “uncompromising miniaturization” means that the electrical and acoustic characteristics of the CMC 1 are equal to, or even better than, those of the CMC 6. Through modern electronic design, these outstanding electrical properties have been achieved:
- High maximum SPL: 135dB-SPL with the MK 4 (0.5% THD or less)
- Very low power consumption: 2mA at 48 Volts
- Operates on 48V or 12V phantom power
- Very high immunity from RF interference with the SCHOEPS RFI Shield*
Together the CMC 1 and MK 4 are very discreet and truly fantastic and are our engineers prefered choice for classical ensemble broadcasts and choir recordings, especially in the Christopher Wren designed churches in London, such as St Clement Danes - Strand and the Grosvenor Chapel in Mayfair where the natural free colouration of sound pick up gives the best tonal quality to recordings made in venues such as these.
