Matched Stereo Set comprising the CMC 1 pre-amp and MK 2 Omni capsules.
The linear frequency response of the MK 2 with respect to frontally incident sound waves results in a very natural sound for near-field recordings (i.e. in close proximity to the sound source). This is ideal for acoustic instruments like guitar and double bass where the capsule can be set up very close to the sound source without sounding too brilliant or harsh.
The MK 2 Omni capsules are also perfect as part of a stereo por surround microphone array where they are used for spaced recording techniques
The CMC 1 is Schoeps's new, small Colette microphone amplifier, about one-third the size and 40% lighter than the CMC 6.
It is compatible with all components of the Colette system and can be used in place of the CMC 6 without compro-mise, for all applications in which the size and weight of the microphone play a role.
At SCHOEPS, “uncompromising miniaturization” means that the electrical and acoustic characteristics of the CMC 1 are equal to, or even better than, those of the CMC 6. Through modern electronic design, these outstanding electrical properties have been achieved:
- High maximum SPL: 13 dB-SPL with the MK 4 (0.5% THD or less)
- Very low power consumption: 2mA at 48 Volts
- Operates on 48V or 12V phantom power
- Very high immunity from RF interference with the SCHOEPS RFI Shield*
Together the CMC 1 and MK 2 are very discreet and truly fantastic and are our engineers prefered choice for classical ensemble broadcasts and recordings, especially in the Christopher Wren designed churches in London, such as St Clement Danes - Strand and the Grosvenor Chapel in Mayfair where the natural free colouration of sound pick up gives the best tonal quality to recordings made in venues such as these.
